There
will be a showcase of the work of one of the
top Polish stars today, Cezary Pazura - one
of the most popular personalities on Polish
screens, large and small. His mini season
- the first time his work has been featured
in the UK – will include a selection
of the satiric comedies that made his name
at home.
Eurovisions will also host the premiere of
his latest film, a lavish adaptation by Wiktor
Grodecki of the controversial 1927 classic
by Stanislas Witkiewicz, Insatiability.
We are also delighted to present the international
premiere of the new film
by Polish 'old master' Andrzej Wajda, Zemsta
(Revenge), a period comedy with
a cast headed by Roman Polanski. The
films of Cezary Pazura include the Polish
part of Kieslowski's trilogy Three Colours:
White, the contemporary gangster comedies
Sting and Boys Don't Cry (co-starring and
directed by Olaf Lubaszenko), Nothing's
Funny, an hilarious send-up of the film
industry, and The Career of Nikos Dzymos,
a mordant satire on Polish politics with
Pazura playing an alcoholic gravedigger
who becomes the country's first and most
courted spin-doctor.
Phillip Bergson.
