Film Festival 2003 will include retrospectives of iconoclastic
British director Alex Cox,
Hollywood's favourite leading lady Jean
Simmons, and a cinematic tribute to Dylan
Thomas by film-maker Andrew Sinclair and Sally Burton.
The festival will also host the first public appearance in the
UK since the mid-1960s of the founding father of the notorious
'mondo' genre, Gualtiero Jacopetti.
This
year's masterclasses and screentalk interviews include personal
appearances from Bullitt director Peter
Yates, Blade Runner producer Michael
Deeley, British director Michael
Radford and veteran cinematographer Gerry
Fisher.
Film
programmes include the latest Dutch cinema, as part of the
Eurovisions strand,
and the best new US arthouse and independent films in Focus
America. We'll be celebrating 50 years of CinemaScope
in the traditional Widescreen
Weekend, which regularly attracts large format film
fans from across Europe, the USA and Australia.
